zirconium dioxide powder is a crystalline material that can be used for many purposes. It is commonly found in the production of ceramics, refractory materials and abrasives.
It has a number of useful properties and is often used as an insulator in electrical components, such as transistors. It is also a highly refractory material and has excellent chemical resistance at elevated temperatures.
Uses and applications for zirconium oxide
Zirconia is an advanced ceramic material that has been recognized for many years to be a suitable material for bone implants and joint components. It is a high-strength, tough material with good biocompatibility and tribological properties.
It is used to make dental crowns and abutments, as well as in hip arthroplasty and bone tissue applications. It is also known for its excellent aesthetic and mechanical properties.
ZrO2 nanoparticles are produced using various synthetic routes, including sol-gel, hydrothermal and laser ablation methods. These processes generate different types of zirconium metal oxide nanoparticles, and these particles are characterized by SEM, TEM, photo luminescence spectroscopy, UV-absorption spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction.
Synthetic method: The synthesized powders are prepared from a mixture of zirconyl chloride and ammonium chloride at molar ratios of 5 s 1 to 1 : 5. For partially stabilized ZrO2 the amount of stabilizer yttrium oxide is preferably between 0.1 and 6 percent by weight, and for completely stabilized ZrO2 between 2 and 5 percent by weight, based on the prepared powder properties.
