platinum ingot is a refined material used to craft high-tier tools and weapons. It can be obtained by smelting platinum ore in a Refinery or from disassembling components that contain it. It is also occasionally found in treasure chests, but this method is not the best way to obtain it.
In the world, platinum has a metallic white/gray appearance that resembles silver. It is a non-reactive metal that is very resistant to corrosion. In the game, it is used to craft a wide range of equipment, and can be found as drops from monsters in certain areas, as well as in chests on rare occasions.
Aside from smelting, it can be purchased in shops and from other players for a small fee. It is the primary component in crafting high-tier equipment, although it can be hard to find in the early game, since it is a very rare drop.
One of the first places to look for it is in Alethorp, a boat-building town South of Hodda Shelter and North-East of Vangrinn’s most Southernly High Point. It will be in possession of a Muspel soldier there.
Another place to look is in Jarnshus, a blacksmith area located South of the Hofgard Altar and West of the region’s most Southwesterly High Point. It will be in possession a Jotun pikeman close to the shore.
In this area, the chest will be tucked next to a wall near the Muspel alarm and surrounded by lava. Getting to it will require the Power of Muspelheim and possibly climbing down a tall ladder on the side of the building.
