tungsten disulfide powder is a solid lubricant with extremely low coefficient of friction and exceptional wear resistance. It is also chemically inert and a non-toxic material.

It is a silver gray, finely-powdered material that is insoluble in water and organic solvents. It has a layered structure with tungsten atoms appearing in a trigonal prismatic coordination sphere. It can be found naturally in tungstenite and is created synthetically as well. It is a valuable material for various applications including dry film lubrication, semiconductor materials and fuel cells.

Dry Lubrication

Tungsten disulfide’s layered structure creates a lamellar morphology, which effectively reduces friction between two surfaces. This reduces heat and wear, resulting in increased efficiency and long service life of components. It is compatible with all oils and greases, including high-temperature greases used in steel mills and aluminum rolling mills.

The lubricating properties of tungsten disulfide are especially useful in harsh environments that can cause components to corrode. The lubricant protects against corrosion, allowing components to operate under severe conditions and extending their lifespan.
