In my opinion, the Red Hot Nickel Ball (RHNB) is the best YouTube video to watch. I have never seen anything like it. Not to mention the fact that it has garnered millions of views. Its a citizen science experiment in a nutshell. The video is about 27 seconds long. And the commentaries are a little ridiculous, too.
There are hundreds of videos out there. However, the ones that really stand out are those that are the most audacious. They are not just random experiments, but they are a bit of a smorgasbord of high and low tech gadgetry. One of the more interesting is a simple test involving a red hot nickel ball and a frozen lake.
While it is not a new concept, this gizmo has actually been around for a while. However, the red hot nickel ball is not exactly the same as the red hot steel which it was compared to. Similarly, it does not burn a hole in a solid slab of ice, as the latter does. So, the red hot ball may not be the same as the red hot steel, but it certainly does the trick.
Another cool thing is that it is made in the United States. The manufacturer is the United States Ball Corporation. This company manufactures a wide variety of metal balls. Using its proprietary processes, they are able to cast alloys to a wide variety of sizes and shapes. These include the standard and special grade balls, as well as custom and special ordered balls.
