What is activated aluminum?
Activated Alumina also known as activated, is often referred as “activated” alumina which uses alumina for the catalyst. It is porous and high-dispersion material that has a large amount of surface area. It has many of the properties required for catalysis such as excellent thermal stability, adsorption, and surface activity. Spherical activated aluminum pressure swing oil adsorbent consists of white, spherical particles. The activated aluminum has a smooth surface with uniform particle size. It is also strong in mechanical strength and hygroscopicity. It does not crack or swell after absorbing the water and it remains in its initial state. The activated alumina can effectively dry out trace water. It is suitable for heatless regeneration equipment.
Uses for activated alumina
The main uses of activated alumina are in water purifiers. The adsorption of gas, liquid moisture and water vapor is possible with activated alumina. It is possible to revive the adsorption by heating between 175 and 315°C. You can perform the adsorption process and resurrection multiple times. As well as being used for desiccants, it can absorb lubricating oil vapor from polluted hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and natural gas. It can also serve as a catalyst, catalyst carrier and a chromatographic analyzer.
It can be used for defluorinating drinking water that contains high levels of fluorine, for defluorinating circulating alkanes to produce alkylbenzene or for deacidification regeneration for transformer oil. Also, it is useful as a drying agent for gas in the electronics, textile and oxygen industries. Automatic instrument drying, desiccant/purifying agent for chemical fertilizer, petrochemicals drying and other industries. (The dewpoint is -40) and pressure swing adsorption can reach as low as -55. It is a desiccant that can be used to dry out trace water. It is a great choice for devices without heat.
The activated alumina is characterized by a large surface area, diverse pore structure and distribution of pore size, as well as rich surface properties. It is used in many different applications, including adsorbents.
